Are the HP ink cartridge cartridges 22 and 28 the same?

we had a printer, but it broke. we got another printer that looks almost identical to the old printer, but the inks are different: old is 22, new is 28. but even the cartridges look the same... can we use the rest of the old actridge 22 before using the new 28 on the new printer? because they 22 and 28 look like the same thing...Are the HP ink cartridge cartridges 22 and 28 the same?
Here's a listing of all the printers that are compatible with a 22 and a 28 cartridge. If your printer is on both lists, then you should be able to use either cartridge. However, please note that sometimes the differences are internal or electrical and not readily apparent. Just because the diesel gas nozzle fits into your Mustang doesn't mean you should use diesel fuel.
