No, the ink tends to dry out eventually and if their is an expiration date on it, their is areason.

You own thecartridge so, openthem up and try them. They might still be good. If not, buy newones.Will an HP ink cartrige still be good if the exparation date is 2004 and 2006? The cartrige is not open.?
No you should not use them because they may create

all sorts of problems for your printouts or even your printer.

All dye based inks, like the HP ink, use a

2 year normal room temperature self life

as an expiration suggested date.

If you really do not like to throw them away

you can try 'priming' the cartridges. According

to this you can get inkjet cleaner fluid

http://www.inkfilling.com/printer-ink-cl鈥?/a>

It is specifically targetted for your issue, they have

instructions on that page on what to do to revitalize

your cartridge. In fact they also say:

';If a cartridge has been left unused or stored for a long period of time, it's print nozzles will block with dried ink. Print nozzles are very delicate and sensitive and if any substance other than a specifically formulated solvent is used to clean them, damage to the nozzles and print head is likely to occur.';
The ink won't be dried out, but, HP got busted a couple of years ago for selling ink cartridges that would no longer function after a certain date. There is a work around here: http://www.realtechnews.com/posts/989
Please use alcohol cloth to clean the cartridge head and shake the cartridges. Then try it, it won't damage your printer.
try it. prob not if its still packaged.
